first snow
We officially got our first snow on Sunday morning. This would have been fine -- and perhaps even enjoyable -- if I'd been able to just sit on the couch with a big mug of cocoa, curled up under a blanket (or two) and watch it out the window as I read.
However, Jason was running a race Sunday morning, so we were out tromping through it. He was running a race out in a nature preserve in the southern part of Prague. After taking the metro it was about a 15 minute walk through the woods to get to the starting line. The walk there was nice. It was snowing pretty hard but it wasn't windy, so I managed quite well.
Things turned a bit, though, when we found out that instead of starting at 9:50 like we thought, Jason wouldn't be starting until 10:50. Without any buildings for refuge, I had to stand around in the snow for two hours, and I admit that I wasn't doing too well by the time Jason crossed the finish line. Despite wearing wool socks and boots my feet were frozen and even with two pairs of gloves my hands weren't much better. Once Jason finished we rushed back to the metro and the walking helped my feet considerably. So I guess I'm just going to have to remember to keep moving while I'm outside this winter.
