Budapest
Sorry to give Budapest short shift here,
We are really glad that we decided to make the trip to Budapest. It's a beautiful city.
On Sunday we explored the city. We walked all the way from our hostel (in the southern part) to Margaret Island in the northern part of the city. This took us along the Danube riverbank and across the Chain Bridge. The bridge was closed to traffic that day because there was a big festival on the bridge -- with a lot of really good-smelling food.
We found a little restaurant where we could try traditional Hungarian food. Goulash. Everything with paprika. The goulash was different than Czech goulash, but it was also very good. That evening was the final of the Euro 2008, so we found a place to watch it.
On Monday we explored the castle and went on a hunt for water polo gear. I was expecting to find it all over the place, but was disappointed because we really couldn't find anything. :( I guess it just isn't a big seller in the touristy areas.
We'll come back and add more later when we have some more time, but the pictures are already up on the picasa page.
