Sedona

After we got married we went up to Sedona for a couple of days. Red Rock Country is a beautiful area, and we really enjoyed our stay there. The hotel even upgraded our room after noticing the "Bride" and "Groom" hats we were wearing (thanks to Missy and the bachelor/bachelorette party). Chelsey was just about in picture-taking heaven, I think, as we stopped at several scenic viewpoints so she could snap a few.
We did just a little hiking, mostly in Slide Rock State Park. We did the short walk to the actual slide rock, an area where the creek has smoothed out its bed to create sort of a natural water slide. We each went down a couple of times. The water was pretty cold, especially the first time I went down a little bump and got it full in the chest. I advised Chelsey to try to get used to the water before going to avoid that sensation herself. After we finished sliding, we got our picnic lunch out of the car and hiked along the creek as far as we could go. It was a beautiful day.
Other than that we spent some time poking through the stores in uptown Sedona and driving out to see the upscale Enchantment Resort. We ate dinner at their "cafe", which was pretty good. Chelsey's salad, in particular, was quite tasty.
All in all, it was an enjoyable little getaway. We're now hoping we can work in a few more weekend trips before we leave for Japan.
