Race time

Driving up to Flagstaff for the Fourth of July meant I was going to miss the race in Phoenix that day. No problem, I looked on an Arizona racing calendar and saw that RoadRunner Sports was putting on a race Thursday night, so I could just run that instead. Plus, it was free!
It turned out to be a pretty low-key race. There were only 13 people there. I ended up winning by about a minute; it probably would have been more except I had to stop for the traffic light on the way out and again on the way back. That does tend to mess with your time a little. Also, it was still quite hot at 6:30 p.m. The section along Tempe Town Lake was like running through a sauna. I was covered in sweat by the end, even though I didn't run that fast. Still, I've now won two consecutive races in Arizona. I just need to find more obscure races with few competitors and keep this streak alive. Of course, I did win a hat in the post-race raffle, making this win even sweeter.

Congrats on the win. So does a hat count as "payment". Would that make you a professional runner now?!
