Bartlett Lake

We're a little late with this post -- but we've had a lot going on (more to come soon). We spent Chelsey's birthday at a lake just east of Phoenix called Bartlett Lake. The Theilers, friends of the Thomases, were looking for a reason to get their new boat out on the water. We apparently supplied that reason.
When we got there Rick was a little nervous about the weather. Despite clear forecasts, there were some ominous clouds over part of the lake. Nevertheless, we set off down the lake. We stopped when we spotted a bald eagle on one of the hills overlooking the lake, then continued on to find a beach for lunch. The Theilers have a grill for the boat, so we moored just off a beach and grilled some hot dogs. Chelsey filled up on fruit.
After lunch we headed to the other end of the lake. It started to cloud up a bit, but Dusty and Missy decided they were going to try tubing behind the boat, so they scrambled into wet suits and away they went. When they were done, Missy said the water was really cold, which I figured meant Chelsey and I weren't going, but Chelsey surprised me and was eager to go despite the threat of freezing water. So we got ourselves into the wet suits and plopped into the water. It really wasn't that bad, especially after we first got in. The worst part was my feet, which were sticking up in the air on the side of the tube - the wind whistling through my toes made them cold. It was fun, though. Rick did seem to be trying to get us going faster. We did finally get forced outside the wake and into choppier waters before we called it a day.
Despite some clouds while we were tubing, the forecasts turned out to be pretty good, and we had mostly sun for a nice day on the lake.
