Chelsey and I hiked up Camelback Mountain on Thursday.

Camelback is one of the dominant features of the Phoenix area and one of the iconic mountains in the "Valley of the Sun", which pretty much swallows up the mountain. For some reason I was expecting a relatively easy trail up the spine of the mountain, but that wasn't what we took (I'm not sure if such a trail exists or not). Our trail involved a lot of scrambling over rocks. It wasn't anything too tough, just a bit tricky in spots. We made it to the top in a little less then an hour. After sitting down, taking in the view of Phoenix and picking out all the sites I knew (including Chelsey's

parents' house), we headed back down, which was faster.
We started up relatively early in the morning, which was good because a) it got up to 90 (Fahrenheit) later in the day and b) there were a lot of groups heading up as we were going down - probably due to spring break. Plus one woman carrying her dog in a backpack. But we got a good hike in.
