Easter Monday
We apparently didn't have the story on the Easter whippings quite correct. Apparently the tradition operates more like trick-or-treating. The men with sticks do whip the women, but they specifically visit the homes of women they know. So we went to the Old Town square this morning but didn't witness any whippings. There were plenty of people buying sticks, but they weren't attacking the tourists.
We were a little disappointed because we thought it would have been interesting (but based on the size of some of the sticks, I was kind of thankful that I wasn't being attacked). I don't think Jason was too disappointed either because now he gets to eat all the chocolate.
The square was filled with people and merchants and it was fun just to wander around. I included a picture of our lunch! (just kidding) We decided not to have any of the ham, but people were just walking up and cutting of a hunk.

My Aide at school told me that the deal with the sticks on Easter is that if you get hit with one, you are supposed to keep your youth...Glad to hear you guys are having so much fun!!
Love Kim
I couldn't eat the ham with the pig's head looking at me. Great you are learning different customs, very interest. GM.
That makes me want to be a vegetarian.
