First week of teaching
The last week was a little crazy, with moving and starting teaching. Our first week on the job went pretty well. Some of the classes that we're teaching are brand new classes and others are classes that started a few months ago and we took over from another teacher (for various reasons, some teachers leave/get new jobs/etc). These "take over" classes are a little strange because the students already know each other and you have to pick up where the other teacher left off. But we are making it work and it's getting easier as we get into a rhythm.
We both keep picking up additional classes and our schedules are filling up. Plus, there is ample opportunity to pick up substitutions.
It's interesting, though, because the majority of the classes are either in the early morning or late afternoon (so people can take them before or after work). Jason has a little bit wider range, but most of my classes are between 7:20-10:30 in the morning and then 4-7:30 at night. I have a few classes in the middle but not very many.
We don't have internet at our new apartment yet, though our landlord says he made the call to set it up. Both last Tuesday (May Day) and tomorrow (VE Day) are national holidays here, which has kind of thrown a wrench into everyone's schedules.
