a tram driver?
He also told me a story about one of the funniest things that happened while he was on duty. He said he was driving his tram down Wenceslas Square (Prague's closest equivalent to Times' Square). Apparently the trams used to run the length of the square, but now they just cut across. Anyway, he was part way down the square when he says he had an emergency and he really needed to use the restroom. So he stopped his tram and jumped out. There was a restroom he had planned to use, but it was broken or closed so he had to find another one. The entire adventure ended up taking him 20 minutes, and when he finally got back to his tram he said he'd created quite a traffic jam. There were trams back up all along the square. He also said there were police everywhere and it was chaos.
His story reminded me (in a way) of one of our experiences in Vienna with Jason's parents. We were riding the trams that goes in a ring around the city when the tram just stopped and the driver hopped out. He proceeded to make a call on his cell phone and light up a cigarette. We were pretty confused. Apparently it was time for a 10-minute break. When he was done with his call and his cigarette, he got back in and on we went.

How hard can it be to drive a tram? It's not as if they need to be steered. It seems to me it must be just like riding on the back of a tandem bike -- not much work to do, but no input as to your itinerary!!
