picnic and Kakfa museum
After lunch we strolled through the little quarter and made our way to the Franz Kafka museum. This is one of the many museums on our list. Jason has developed a strong interest in Czech literature, and even though he always wrote in German, Kafka was Czech.
I know Jason will have more to add about the museum, but there were two things that struck me: First, the museum has a prime location right on the Vltava next to the Charles Bridge. It's got to be among the best real estate in Prague. So, I thought it was very strange that the entire museum didn't have a single window! It would have been such a great view.
The second thing I found strange was that after we completed the circuit of the museum, I really didn't feel that I'd learned that much about Kafka. All of the sign and plaques were in English (for the tourists, of course), but the museum simply didn't have that much information. Jason said that it seemed like there were trying to hide this fact by making everything "strange" -- many of the displays were arranged in a nonconventional way.
Even though it doesn't rank among of the best of the museums that we've visited, it still made for an enjoyable afternoon.
